This program is related to Community Services

This program provides a comprehensive introduction to the knowledge, attitudes, and practical skills required to work compassionately and effectively with vulnerable individuals and communities. Participants will explore the complex social, economic, cultural, and psychological factors that contribute to vulnerability, and learn how to apply ethical, person-centred, and trauma-informed approaches in service delivery.

Through case studies, real-world examples, and reflective practice, learners will examine the structural inequalities that impact access to resources, services, and justice for individuals such as those affected by homelessness, domestic violence, mental illness, disability, poverty, and systemic discrimination.

The Diversity and Cultural Competence program explores the importance of recognising, respecting, and responding effectively to diversity in the workplace and in community service environments. It focuses on the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to work inclusively with individuals from diverse cultural, linguistic, ethnic, and social backgrounds.

The program empowers community service professionals to deliver equitable and culturally safe support, develop self-awareness around personal bias, and promote inclusive practices within their organisations.

Introduction to Community Services provides learners with foundational knowledge and insights into the values, structures, and roles within the community services sector in Australia. This program explores the social, political, and economic factors that shape service delivery and introduces key concepts such as social justice, advocacy, equity, and client-centered support. Learners will gain an understanding of various community services, professional responsibilities, ethical considerations, and the importance of inclusive practice when working with diverse populations.
